Chaoyang Elementary School is a rural primary school with 6 classes and 89 students located by the Zhuoshui River in Xizhou Township, Changhua. This year, thanks to the efforts of the teachers of the school, a professional art teacher finally opened the "Multimedia Color Creation Class" in the form of a club course. The students have achieved good results. Therefore, combined with the art deep cultivation teaching plan, they began to promote the "Visual Art - Painting Teaching" for a long time. . The teachers of Chaoyang Elementary School hope that through the activity of "My Art Class in the Art Museum", they can deeply root the beauty of basic art education, so that children in remote areas can also enjoy an alternative childhood with art and culture.
The artist-in-residence who accompanied the children to the art museum shared a short story with us: a little girl brought a box of toothless crayons to class and asked her why she didn’t bring complete crayons. The little girl replied: Mam said I won't be able to buy new crayons for me until Dad comes back from Taipei next month.
After the principal learned about this situation, he raised funds to purchase art tools so that the students could take art classes well.
Art education is not valued in grass-roots education, and rural schools lack professional art teachers for a long time to teach art courses, resulting in a gap in the art literacy of rural schoolchildren. However, we observed that Chaoyang Elementary School actively sought resources to adhere to art education with the efforts of the principals and teachers who saw the importance of art education. This group of middle-grade children who only started to have professional art teachers to teach art classes this year, Use colored pencils very freely and confidently in the museum to draw their imaginations.
Looking at the "Dream Whale Island" and "Magic Jiujiu Peaks" created by them, we sincerely hope that their imagination can continue to be displayed through perfect art education.
