Introduction

"Silence and Vast: From Memory to History - Yang Beichen Solo Exhibition" ————— Lecture Series on Nostalgic Life Aesthetics

Life is a means of survival for human beings composed of food, clothing, housing and transportation, and life aesthetics is the expression of people's life tastes.
In the torrent of time, what beautiful tastes and beautiful sounds have gradually become a distant memory, replaced by today's trendy and novel experiences, and gradually distanced from our sight and life.
Re-exploring the aesthetics of life, you will still find that the classic traditions are timeless, and these good memories will make you and I will never forget them. It turns out that nostalgia is a mood, and retro is an attitude. This series of lectures is divided into auditory and taste journeys. Let us explore the past together and regain the beauty of nostalgic life.

Lecture 1│ Journey of the ear

What if we watch history purely by hearing?

In the old days, many albums that were completely incomprehensible to modern people, such as "Conversation with the Stars" could also be a theme, and you could have fun with the script attached, or "The Patriotic Lottery will be drawn the day after tomorrow" and even released an album. Zhang Vinyl; "Sister Lin Tou" or various social events can also be loved by the public; even "Steam Train Sound" and the platform broadcast sound from 40 years ago are also included in the included soundtrack. After all, what kind of journey is this?

"Journey of the Ear" is developed from the sound perspective of life's interest, giving different ear nutrients, but it is also pleasing to the ear.

Vinyl cover: "Advice to Gambling" 1960s, "For Ruthless Men in the World" 1970s, "Mom Please Take Care of You" 1970s

Speaker introduction

Lin Taiwei/

Graduated from the Chinese Department of Fu Jen Catholic University and the Institute of Traditional Art of Taipei University of the Arts.

Lin Taiwei is the analog voice player of the younger generation. From 78 to vinyl to tapes are all included in the collection. On weekdays, I bury my head in old documents to find first-hand reports, and communicate with collectors. Since 2001, he has plunged into the world of 78 RPM old records. There are more than thousands of collections so far, including Deng Yuxian's early masterpiece "March of Dadaocheng", which was lost for 80 years and once thought that the album did not exist, as well as Taiwan's first album "Open Door" and the first forbidden song "" The Vagabonds on the Streets" and other precious historical materials of Taiwan's earliest sound.

In order to conduct in-depth research on historical materials, after entering the workplace, he was admitted to the Institute of Musicology of National Taiwan University to examine historical recordings with more in-depth historical materials and academic resources. In one month, he wrote 500 entries related to old records for the "Encyclopedia of Taiwan" by the Ministry of Culture. In 2015, he published the historical recording book "Playing in Old Taiwan", which completely analyzed the record industry during the Japanese occupation period, hoping to introduce the forgotten "historical movements" to more listeners.
