Introduction

"Kitsch" is deep in its superficial surface, "art" has only superficial depth.

Odd Nerdrum is a contemporary painter who continues to work in a classical style, as well as a provocative and often controversial artist. He was so eloquent that he once declared, "If I were an artist, I would not paint." He even declared that his work was not "art" but "Kitsch", and he even published it in 2000 wrote a book called On Kitsch (On Kitsch). Tutored by Joseph Beuys, he knows the hustle and bustle of contemporary art well. Why did Odd Nerdrum go backwards? What does he mean by "kitsch"?

This time, art historian Chen Kangyi will try to talk about Odd Nerdrum's contemporary art strategy. Sincerely invite you to spend a beautiful summer afternoon and artistic time with us.
